The Toronto African Film & Music Festival will go on August 29, and 30, as a free outdoor screening and marketplace for the community and public at large.
We have joined forces with 2 other African themed festivals here in Toronto, so that we could share resources, media, and volunteers.

Never before have 3 city-wide African festivals combined in Toronto as they will on August 29 & 30. Along-side one-and-other, each will express the richness of Africa through the lenses of film, music, drama, storytelling, eclectic cuisine, visual art & more!

We will be joining with Afri-Village Street Festival and Michèzo! International Festival Michèzo (http://michezofestival.com/) on August 29th, and 30th, 2009. I have however split the festival this year into 2 parts, first part will be along side the other two festivals as stated above, and the second part of the festival, the Music part will take place in early November, and the dates will be announced the beginning of October if not sooner. .

TAFMF will consist of 2 days of outdoor film screenings. Each screening will be unique and will express the views and passion of African people.

The festival brings many benefits to our already multi-cultural city:

  • Experiencing the sites and sounds of Africa
  • Bringing the African experience to Toronto
  • Fun, different, diversified and unique

It is significant that Toronto, with over 80 film festivals and more than 100 music festivals, covering everything from life style, heritage, age, and culture, has nothing dedicated to celebrating African film and music jointly. Music is inseparable from life and certainly essential in film.

TAFMF is an opportunity to link the creativity of one of the largest multicultural communities in the world with the largest multi-cultural city, and country, in the world.
