Hello everyone!

The Toronto African Film & Music Festival is coming to Yorkville. We’re launching HEAT, an event on February 25th, 2010 at the hip and trendy Empire Lounge !

We’ll be showcasing fashions from some African-Canadian fashion designers who are making headwaves in Toronto. At a point in the evening, national talent Kobèna Acquaah-Harrison will perform live, gracing the crowd with original West African beats! To keep the dance floor rocking,Dj IceTouch. will be spinning smokin’ club tracks throughout the night and complimentary hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Buy them online (Click here for Tickets).

Be part of the TAFMF email list for occasional blasts or to receive our upcoming newsletter featuring Africa in the City: African Events in the Toronto area. Email info@torontoafricanfilmmusicfest.com to join.

Last August, we teamed up with both Afri-Village Street Festival Afri-Village Street Festival and Michèzo! International Festival made history. Never before had 3 city-wide African festivals combined in Toronto, expressing the richness of Africa through the lenses of film, music, drama, storytelling, eclectic cuisine, visual art and more! We are now looking for volunteers for our festival this summer and for related events. To join us, email info@torontoafricanfilmmusicfest.com.

We hope you’re as excited about the addition of fashion to this year’s program mix as we are. Fashion will also be a part of our festival this summer, alongside music and film.

The deadline for film entry for this year's festival is March 22nd. The entry form can be found here—Entry Form.

Our summer showcase will consist of outdoor film screenings, performances by African musicians, and the eagerly anticipated African Marketplace. Each showcase will be unique and express the culture and passion of the distinct African regions they represent.

The festival brings many benefits to our already multicultural city:

-It is unique, as there is no other festival showcasing a combination of African films and music in Toronto; and

-There are over 100 music festivals, and about the same amount of film festivals in Toronto.

So I ask:

Why not join us in celebrating the people, the culture, the music and the film that is from AFRICA--that is AFRICAN!

Yours,

Paris Roger
Executive Director
