Donné Roberts
"a melting pot of ideas, rhythm and influences"

Singer songwriter and guitarist, Juno Award Winner 2005 & Juno Award Nominee 2007 (Member of African Guitar Summit)
Dieudonné Roberts (Dieudonné meaning "God given") effortlessly combines polyrhythmic African and African American grooves. This natural talent is obvious to anyone who hears him play.
Shaped by an eclectic and courageous set of life experiences, Donné was born on the legendary island of Madagascar and moved with his diplomat parents to Russia at age 7 where he resided for two decades. In 1997 Roberts produced Mama Africa, one of the largest, most important African festivals in the history of Russian culture. The following year, he became the first African to host a show on MTV Russia, the hour-long program Mambassa. Also in 1998 he was chosen to organize backup vocalists for a tour with Swedish pop legends Ace of Base.
In 1999 this cosmopolitan artist came to call Canada home. "Sounds of Africa" Radio Host and TAFMF Music Director, Kobena Aquaa-Harrison, met Donne rehearsing in a church basement and promised to musically collaborate at Donne's request. In 2003 Donne was invited to be part of "African Guitar Summit" (AGS). Donne's tunes are widely aknowledged as the most memorable favourites.
Wunmi

A one-off-a-kind global phenomenon - an artist that effortlessly joins the dots between Nigeria’s Afrobeat heritage, New York’s house pedigree and London’s jazz, broken beat and classic street soul sounds. 10 years of classic collaborations working with production heavyweights like Masters At Work,Osunlade, Seiji and Truby Trio, Wunmi is finally flying solo with her acclaimed debut album, entitled A.L.A
Born in London, Wunmi aka Ibiwunmi Omotayo Olufunke Felicity Olaiya lived in Nigeria for 10 years, returning to the UK aged 14. "Moving back to England, the same feeling of not fitting in hunted me and it was at that point my identity started shifting , like ...who am i?" She retreated into a world of her imagination, finding expression in clothes, and in her later teens on the dance floors of London Clubs. "With time I became Wunmigirl!. I became comfortable with me." The enduring image from Wunmi’s early years in music was in summer 1986 as the dancer silhouetted in Soul II Soul’s ‘Back To Life’ video.
As an integral dancer within the Soul II Soul set-up, Wunmi quickly established a bold, self-styled image with flowing braids and her own outrageous clothes which became a valuable addition to the Funki Dred identity. She was subsequently chosen as an icon of London underground club culture when featured in Kiss FM London's first advertising campaign as a commercial station.
